Vojenský útvar 3255, zkráceně VÚ, je zvenku ohraničený prostor zabírající zhruba 1/10 Petřína (1). Tento prostor je využíván armádou ČR, konkrétně Agenturou komunikačních a informačních systémů (KIS) (2) a Oddělení kriminalistické techniky a expertiz kriminální služby Vojenské policie. V západní části prostoru se tyčí věž o výšce cca 60 metrů, kterou provozuje firma INTV s.r.o. (3) (v západním cípu je pak u strahovských kolejí od stejné společnosti umístěno několik větších satelitů). Petřín tak, k mému překvapení, nereprezentuje jedna výšková dominanta, ale dvě, dobře pozorovatelné ze severozápadního centra Prahy. Právě tento znejišťující fakt, na který jsem narazil při každodenním pohybu městem, byl pro mě impulsem pro hlubší zkoumání.
Informace jsem získával třemi různými způsoby. Za prvé jsem prostor zvenčí fotografoval, zdokumentoval jsem si tak možná důležitá místa a objekty, které jsem následně vyznačil do mapy. Konkrétní funkci a historický kontext jsem se snažil dozvědět z emailové konverzací s některými orgány armády ČR, zejména s kanceláří Generálního štábu, ani ta mi však nebyla schopná sdělit konkrétní informace a po několika vyměněných emailech v konverzaci již nepokračovala. Třetí zdroj informací jsem získal z publikace (4), která mapuje historii, seznam velitelů útvaru od roku 1984, trávení volného času členů útvaru a vývoj a nastínění útvarem používaných technologií. Publikace ale znovu neobsahuje konkrétnější informace o funkci útvaru. Přesto to je prozatím nejbohatší informační zdroj pro práci.
Co tedy vidíme, když se díváme? Jak velkou část celé reality jsme schopni vnímat?
Cílem této dokumentační hry je právě v určitém výseku reality vidět co nejvíce to lze. Do veřejného parku je vykrojen prostor s neveřejnými informacemi o jeho funkci, stoupám si tak na špičky, abych viděl na druhou stranu zdi, kde si tak trochu přeji, aby se schovával nějaký velký kocour. Sleduji místo, či jen onu věž, která může sledovat mě. Snažím se počínat si přitom svobodně, hrát si, současně se ale pohybuji na hranici ilegality. Jaký rozsah informací tedy můžu z pozice občana státu o státu získat?
Snaha zabývat se věcmi mimo naší obvyklou percepci je nutná, abychom zůstali v pohybu a byli schopni ohmatat hranice společenského systému a nezůstali pouze v jeho rámci.
1 – Strategie umístění
vojenských objektů a útvarů v Praze je sama o sobě zajímavá problematika. Dalšími ztyčnými body jsou např. Paví Vrch, či Porokopské údolí. Vyjímečnost umístění VÚ 3255 na kopci v centru města poblíž Hradu je více než zřejmé.
2 – AKIS (agentura komunikačních a informačních systémů) v rámci Generálního štábu armády ČR jen provozovatelem neveřejné telekomunikační sítě (v souladu se zákonem
č. 127/2005 Sb.a 183/2006 Sb.), stanovených informačních systémů a operačně taktických systémů velení a řízení pozemních sil a vzdušných sil. AKIS je koncepčním orgánem pro správu majetkových uskupení 2.4 KIS
a 6.2 a odpovídá za zabezpečení resortu obrany tímto majetkem.

Military Unit 3255, abbreviated as VU, is an externally bounded area occupying approximately 1/10 of Petřín (1). This space is used by the Army of the Czech Republic, specifically by the Communications and Information Systems Agency (KIS) (2) and the Department of Criminalistics and Expertise of the Criminal Service of the Military Police. In the western part of the area there is a tower about 60 metres high, operated by the company INTV s.r.o. (3) (in the western end there are several larger satellites from the same company located near the Strahov tracks). To my surprise, Petřín is thus not represented by one high-rise dominant, but by two, clearly observable from the north-western centre of Prague. It was this disconcerting fact, which I encountered while moving through the city every day, that prompted me to investigate further.
I gathered information in three different ways. First, I photographed the area from the outside, documenting possibly important places and objects, which I then marked on a map. I tried to find out the specific function and historical context from email conversations with some of the authorities of the Czech Army, especially the General Staff office, but even they were unable to provide me with specific information and after several exchanged emails did not continue the conversation. The third source of information I obtained was from publication (4), which traces the history, lists the unit’s commanders since 1984, the leisure activities of unit members, and the development and outline of the technologies used by the unit. However, again, the publication does not contain more specific information about the function of the unit. Still, it is the richest information source for the work so far.
So what do we see when we look? How much of the whole reality are we able to perceive?
The goal of this documentation game is precisely to see as much as possible in a particular slice of reality. An area is cut into a public park with non-public information about its function, so I stand on tiptoe to see the other side of the wall, where I kind of wish there was a big cat hiding. I’m watching the place, or just that tower that may be watching me. I’m trying to be free, to play, but at the same time I’m on the edge of illegality. So what kind of information can I get about the state from my position as a citizen of the state?
Trying to deal with things outside of our usual perception is necessary to stay in motion and to be able to grasp the boundaries of the social system and not just stay within it.
1 – Positioning strategy of military objects and units in Prague is an interesting issue in itself. Other points of reference are e.g. Paví Vrch or Porokopské údolí. The uniqueness of the location of VÚ 3255 on a hill in the city centre near the Castle is more than obvious.

127/2005 Coll. and 183/2006 Coll.), the established information systems and the operational and tactical command and control systems of the ground forces and the air forces. AKIS is the conceptual body for the management of asset groups 2.4 KIS
and 6.2 and is responsible for the security of the Ministry of Defence with these assets.
